Paparoa is a rural village on State Highway 12 between Maungaturoto and Dargaville, surrounded by farmland running down to the arms of the Kaipara Harbour. Pahi, a small settlement on the Pahi River a few minutes away, and Matakohe — home of the Kauri Museum — are included on this page. These are quiet, small communities: Maungaturoto, Dargaville and the Mangawhai coast are where most everyday services are. Land here is mostly rural-residential and lifestyle blocks, with some harbour frontage around Pahi. Expect tank water and on-site wastewater, and check flood and coastal mapping near the harbour as well as slope and access on each listing.
